Who’s on your team?

Who’s on your team?

For the sports lovers amongst you all, this is about your health team, not the footy tipping competition! 😉
It’s about the people in your life who you trust to help your progress to wellness? In any particular situation, you have probably called upon several health practitioners at one time or another to advise, direct and help you achieve the best possible health outcomes for yourself or your family.
The lovely thing about working in health is that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, and we often call upon and collaborate with, other health practitioners to help us gain the best results for our patients.
Each member of the ‘team’ contributes to the clients’ overall health improvement, and that’s why I often refer to the process as a ‘health journey.’ It’s one worth doing, and the results can be life changing! For many of my clients, there are often several health practitioners who may be called upon to complete the picture. Here is a little diagram to show who can be important contributors to a client’s health improvement journey. (Not all of them of course!)

More and more these days you will hear the word ‘collaboration’ in health. There is so much information, education, specialisation, and skill to be sourced that it is rare to find the perfect combination in the one health practitioner. Each  Isn’t it reassuring to know it’s perfectly acceptable to ask questions these days, to be pro-active and seek more information on matters of health? A welcome change and a far cry from the days gone by, when no one dared ask questions! A community of health professionals working collaboratively and with their clients is now standard practice – or at least it should be!
Seek, question, consult and learn. You only get one lifetime, so explore who is (or could be) a valuable addition to your health team!
